When your child leaves our Scout section at around 14 years, this is not the end of their Scouting. Now new adventures within await them and they have some options to consider. Your child’s details will be passed to our District Explorer Unit who will welcome them them and discuss what options work best for them and you.
They can move on to one of the Explorer Units within the District. You can find more information and also download the latest copy of the District Explorers Welcome & Information Pack HERE. This provides details of all the units, including the days and times they meet. The 46th are linked with the Himalayas unit, who meet on Wednesday evenings at Knights Lodge, Overstone from 7.30-9.00pm. But they can join any of the units if this day and time does not suit.
They may also wish to consider volunteering as a Young Leader within our Beaver or Cub Section. We do also accept Young Leaders in our Scout Section, but only after they have spent 6 months volunteering in a younger section. As a young leader, they would join the District Explorer Scout Young Leaders’ Scheme (ESYLS) and participate in the training programme for Young Leaders. It contains 11 modules and 4 missions for them to work through whilst volunteering in their chosen section. They would begin in either Beavers or Cubs and support the Section Leader and team with running activities, games, attending camps if they wish, and generally supporting our younger members. All information about the Young Leader Scheme can be found HERE and if this is something your Scout wishes to do, then please let us know.
