Volunteering

Can you volunteer

As Scout Leaders, we believe in preparing young people with key life skills and encouraging them to be more, learn more and do more. We teach them teamwork, resilience, and leadership. These are all skills that throughout the years have helped Scouts to become teachers, doctors and astronauts.

The life changing opportunities that 46th Northampton (Overstone) Scouts offers to young people, would be impossible without our amazing leaders and section helpers. These adults who volunteer their time and service, get just as much fulfilment from Scouting as our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. In addition to helping young people to enjoy the adventures that Scouting offers, you will also make friends, have unforgettable experiences, develop new skills and of course, have fun.

Adventures and Activities

Where else can you choose to take part in opportunities such as scuba diving, bell boating, archery, caving, orienteering and many others, often in the company of experts? You will also be offered training and can gain qualifications for many activities. You may already have skills and a passion for a specific activity. What could be more fulfilling than passing your knowledge and enthusiasm onto others. Our weekly meetings are always fun filled sessions, offering a variety of sometimes quite diverse activities, from crafts to circus skills and even conservation. We try to keep our young members engaged and interested in new activities and events, usually meaning they’re away from their technology for a while.

Scouts and the Local Community

For many years, Scouts have been making a difference in their local communities, and today, the Fab 46th continues with this tradition. By encouraging and supporting its members, to give back to society, through community-based projects, charity work and through volunteering. Why not contact us for a chat about how you could volunteer with us.

Become a Volunteer today

Volunteering with the Scouts not only allows you to pursue your hobbies and skills, but can also enhance your CV. We have hundreds of opportunities, both working directly with young people, and behind the scenes. You will receive first class training and full support and can even volunteer on a flexible basis. Perhaps you could help to run the regular section meetings or help with the administrative side of things. You may feel your strengths are helping with the more practical side of camps and outdoor events, or with the governance of the group by joining our Trustee Board. We welcome all offers of help and you don’t need any prior Scouting experience. All we ask is that you can offer energy and enthusiasm and together we can make a difference.

There is a role for everyone at the Fab 46th Scouts, and together we can make a huge difference to the lives of our young people.
