46th Northampton (Overstone) Scout Group Incorporating 48th Northampton (Great Billing) Beaver Scouts The 46th Northampton Scout Group caters for young people aged between 6 and 14 years of age in the Blackthorn, Rectory Farm, Ecton Brook, Great Billing and Overstone and other local areas close to our headquarters in Northampton who wish to try something new and exciting. We pride ourselves on challenging our young people to achieve things they may never otherwise have the opportunity to do. Camping, rifle shooting, archery, canoeing, climbing, abseiling, cooking, games, arts, crafts, challenges and competitions are just some of the things the Group takes part in. Our headquarters are at Overstone Scout Activity Centre, Billing Gate, Billing Lane, Northampton, NN6 0AF Our camps are often held at Overstone to keep costs to a minimum, but the Group has camped in Wales, Windsor, Weymouth and London at the Headquarters of Scouting at Gilwell Park where larger organised activities can be run. Individual Scouts have represented the Group at the World Jamboree in Thailand and the Centenary Jamboree held in England in 2007 as well as a tall ship experience at Ocean Explorers in 2008. Our Group offers the opportunity for individuals to develop into responsible young adults, not just by taking part in the adventurous activities as mentioned above, but by giving them the opportunity to socialise within the group at our regular meetings, but also outside the Group at other fun Scouting events that are held locally, nationally and sometimes internationally. Scouting can really open doors! The Group also has opportunities for adults who wish to take part in Scouting. We are always looking for new Leaders to assist within the three sections.
